Reds Pitchers, Catchers Report To Spring Training

Staff and Wire Report

Pitchers ad catchers take their first jog down the field as they begin to warm up on their first day of Spring Training.

GOODYEAR, Ariz. — Pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report to camp for spring training Thursday.

The first players to camp will take their physicals Thursday morning and take the field for the first time at 2 p.m.

It’s the first time the team will enjoy their new player development complex in Goodyear, Arizona.

The $23 million complex is a major improvement in comparison to the years spent in Sarasota, Fla.

A few familiar faces made their way to Goodyear a day early, such as Aaron Harang, Nick Masset, Homer Bailey and the newest addition to the Reds clubhouse, Aroldis Chapman.

Fans will be keeping an eye on the new, young pitcher as well as newly signed free agent Orlando Cabrera.

Position players report Tuesday with the first full squad workout on that day as well.

A total of 58 players are expected to be in camp this year.

Opening day is April 5.
