CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati Bearcats finished 8th in the final AP Poll rankings and while some might be upset that Cincinnati was bumped so far back in the rankings, it’s the highest a UC football team has ever finished in the rankings.
The Bearcats look to next year with a new coach and a refurbished attitude. They know they can compete with the top teams in the nation now, they’ve done it two years in a row. They know they are a top 10 team, the rankings don’t lie. They know they have the talent, the coaching and the fan base to be a competitive college football program.
Alabama finished number 1 in the poll as the National Champions, Texas finished second, Florida finished third and the only other undefeated team next to the Crimson Tide, Boise State, finished fourth.
Ohio State was fifth, TCU was sixth even after their bowl loss to Boise State and Iowa finished seventh ahead of UC.
Penn State and Virignia Tech rounded out the top 10 at ninth and tenth.
The former school of UC’s new head coach Butch Jones, Central Michigan, finished #23 in the final AP Poll. More success to look forward too.
So Bearcats, hibernate well and we will see you next year with the hopes that this legacy continues into the next decade.
